navis collision detection
Kearney has taken full advantage of the advent of new technologies to enhance the coordination process. Together with other companies that use Navis Collision Detection Software, Kearney meets with the rest of the Design Team to review the coordination of trades and determine possible collisions. The following is a real life example of the coordination process from the Walter Cronkite School of Construction.
The CAD drawing to the left was developed in a predetermined timeline with the other trades. HVAC, plumbing and electrical installation routes are identified in a 3-dimensional format. This provides the opportunity to minimize in the moment decisions and maximize the effectiveness of each discipline.
Upon closer look, the picture clearly demonstrates a collision with water and electrical conduit lines. This problem was identified long before installation began. Identification of these problems early allows for greater planning time. This allows multiple solutions to be proposed, which ultimately leads to superior solutions, saving time and construction dollars.
